It's a mystery
The first time I heard about Chiloé and its magic was when I was a child, I remember myself reading about its folklore and mythology in one of the chapters of my language book in primary school. Chiloé was foolishly represented as a place of superstition and legend where mythological beasts were described in just two lines of a text.
I never really understood what made this island so special, so the day I visited it I was very anxious as if the Caleuche was going to appear in front of my eyes one of those days hahaha.
It happened a couple of years ago that one of my aunts and I visited Chiloé. We didn’t stay for more than seven days, but it was quite an adventure.
We did a lot of sightseeing around Ancud, Castro, Dalcahue, Quellón, Chonchi, Achao, and Curaco de Vélez and took lots of photographs. I dare to say that this trip has been the best I have done so far since Chiloé is beautiful and different to all the places I have visited. To picture it better, when I travel across Chile, along the Ruta 5, the impression I always get is that of being still while the landscape moves like a comic strip. When I travelled across the island, however, the impression I got was totally different. I saw soft winding hills among lengas, coihues, ferns, and nalcas: like the ups and downs of a kind roller-coaster showing you this wonderful landscape in parts. Not only the place is different and special, but also its atmosphere: at times, the island seems inhabited, like if its people were coming up with a plot inside those beautiful houses that seem to be made of wooden fish skin.
There is no doubt why it was the best holidays ever. I found out a mysterious region where everything happens in silence, not in the shrillness or the heat of a city, but just in the fog and silence.

The images show that air of mystery you are talking about
