4. Why did I choose this university programme?

Hello dear bloggers! Welcome to your fourth blogging assignment. This time, you will have to explain why and how you decided to embark on the course you are currently studying for. You should include this information:
  • Before applying to university, did you know what to study?
  • What other study options did you have at the moment of applying to university?
  • What made you decide on this university programme in the end?
  • Did you consider your skills, the monetary costs, the university reputation, and the way you wanted to learn before choosing?
  • How has your experience at university been until now?
  • Upload pictures

Remember:
Your text should have no less than 200 words.
Leave a comment on three of your classmates' posts and one on mine as well.

When I was a child, I wanted to do so many things. Before even thinking of going to university, I thought I had the potential, intelligence, and freedom to do whatever I wanted, so I never really knew what to study. I could have become an actress, a fashion designer, a spaceship pilot, an architect, a painter, a singer...you name it, the sky was the limit.

As I started focusing on choosing one career path, I envisaged working in something related to languages because I was good at English at school and I loved singing songs in English. Even though I invented sooo maaaany words when singing, I thought it was part of me, as if I was destined to it. I used to live in Concepcion at that time, so I never thought of looking for other university options, but the University of Concepcion, which I knew had the best reputation in the city, and I wanted to learn from the best without moving to another city. So, when I finished my secondary studies, I applied to three different university programmes at the University of Concepción, which were Translation, Teaching of English and Social Work...And, I was accepted in the translation programme.

Studying at university was different to what I was used to. My first year in the English and French translation programme was awful. I failed. Obviously the only one thing I learnt at school such as 'open the door', 'what is this?' With some minor variations such as 'what is this? This is a pen', or 'comment allez-vous? Comme ci comme ça' weren't going to help me succeed. But I was determined to overcome my flaws and make it through. So, guess what. I made it and got my BA in English, French and Spanish Translation. University is tough, but I can't complain because I had one of the best years in my life, not to mention, the wonderful campus environment, the good friends, teachers, and people I met.

Now I have over six years of experience working as a teacher of English and I don't regret it, though I am still strictly speaking, a translator. Luckily, I am finishing my TESOL certification to become a more highly qualified teacher - I hope.

Somehow, there's still something inside me that tells me I can do and become whatever I want to...So, who knows, maybe I can still become an actress or a painter...There are so many things I haven't learnt yet and I love learning...In the mid-term future, I would love to continue my studies (A Master's Degree would be great) and do some work on translation abroad. That would be just perfect!

6. Time travel to the future

Welcome everyone to your sixth blogging assignment. This time you will have to write about time traveling to the future. You should then answer the following questions: Where would you like to go? What time in the future? Would you like to stay there? Why? /Why not? Upload pictures Important: Make comments on three of your classmates' posts + a comment on my post too. The word-count this time is no less than  220 words . Do you enjoy travelling? I really  do. Travelling allows us to learn about different places, different people, different cultures and different kinds of lifestyles…and it’s exciting! When I was a child, I grew up in a Christian family and one of my first visual memories of church at that time are one religious wall painting behind the priest pulpit and some framed posters aside. I was too little to be interested in the sermon at that time so, every Sunday evening I would stare at these paintings over and over again. Now, you may wonder: Wh...
